Pishtaco
Short Synopsis: Héctor, a young cantina worker, desperately seeks money to pay for his grandmother's treatment. What appears to be a clinic willing to help them hides an illegal organ trafficking network linked to the legend of the Pishtaco. Long Synopsis: Héctor (19), a young man who works in a cantina, desperately tries to improve his family's financial situation while caring for his grandmother, Soledad (60), who suffers from recurring respiratory problems. Convinced that she needs medical attention, he takes her to a small medical center where a receptionist registers her information and promises affordable treatment. During the consultation, a doctor (60) diagnoses Soledad with advanced pneumonia and demands an impossible sum of money to cover her hospitalization. Unable to pay, Héctor agrees to donate blood to reduce part of the debt, trusting that he will somehow find the remaining amount. However, his efforts fail, and he ultimately loses his savings in a poker game. When he returns to the medical center to fulfill his donation, he discovers that Soledad no longer appears in the records. As he searches for answers, he uncovers clues that lead him into a restricted area of the facility, including a disturbing discovery involving a janitor. There, he finds manipulated files of vulnerable patients linked to disappearances, as well as a macabre storage room filled with illegally harvested human organs. Upon reviewing his grandmother's file, Héctor realizes that she was never seriously ill and that the medical center is part of a criminal organ trafficking network. Desperate, he finds Soledad unconscious and attempts to escape with her. However, the doctor confronts him and forces him to acknowledge that his own decisions helped place her in danger. Surrounded by the receptionist and the janitor, Héctor falls into the hands of the network and becomes its next victim. Some time later, Soledad awakens alone at home while news reports speak of a growing number of disappearances and the legends of the so-called Pishtacos. Unaware of the truth, she waits for her grandson's return, not knowing that he will never come back.
