Horrorpunk Spotlight: Savage Remains
Greetings, fellow HorrorHounds! Your friendly neighborhood Mister Gore here with the first of what will hopefully be many Horrorpunk Spotlights! As someone who has been writing the music reviews for our beloved HorrorHound Magazine for over a year now, as well as the curator of my own horrorpunk den The Deadhouse (you should really check it out!), I wanted to create a new feature here on HorrorHound.com that will spotlight some of the hardest working and rocking bands within the horror scene that you should all check out, and today we start with Savage Remains!
Hailing from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Savage Remains came to prominence within the past year due to a very public and friendly feud with fellow horrorpunks The Jasons. In the midst of this feud the band released their sophomore album Brand New Disease. Chock full of energetic and melodic horrorpunk with a metal edge, Brand New Disease has been one of the highlights in a year full of great releases within the genre. If you missed it, you can actually catch my review in the Hound's Sounds section of HorrorHound issue #64 (grab a copy here!). Songs such as "I Wanna Be A Lost Boy" and "Demon Knight" tick off all the horrorpunk troupes while stamping it with their own style, and the twisted cover of the Ramones' classic that's been turned into "J.A.S.O.N.S." is a can't miss.
The band is currently running a pre-order special for the upcoming 12" vinyl release of Brand New Disease which you can find more information about over on the Official Savage Remains website and you can keep up to date with the band on their Facebook page.
Stay tuned to HorrorHound.com for more Horrorpunk Spotlights in the near future, and if you would like to be considered for inclusion in a future article be sure to email me here.
